Porter’s Wood Furniture is an independent, family-owned furniture store that has been serving Greater Victoria and Southern Vancouver Island for over 25 years. We specialize selling in quality, solid wood furniture at reasonable prices and offer both made-to-order and custom pieces in a variety of styles, stains, handles, and woods. As a small “mom-and-pop shop,” we handle just about everything internally—including all furniture delivery and set up—and our owner is almost always on site. We take pride in our business and strive for customer satisfaction at every stage of the sales cycle. If any concerns or issues arise, you can rest assured they will be resolved quickly by someone who cares. Our team of sales staff do not work on commission, which means that you will never be stalked in our store. Instead, customers are welcome to browse at their own convenience without feeling the pressure to buy. Whether you just want to take a look around or you are looking for more information on a specific piece of furniture, we’re always just here to help.

Solid Wood, Solid Value

At Porter’s Wood Furniture, we aim to sell affordable, solid wood products that are built to last. We always look for product lines that are built in British Columbia first and do our best to promote local manufacturers where we can.

Our products come in a variety of woods, including pine, maple, oak, alder, acacia, and rubberwood, with a wide-selection of styles and stains to choose from. Our prices reflect the quality of each furniture piece and we truly believe we have something for every budget.

When adding new products to our lineup, each piece of furniture is examined thoroughly to ensure the quality is up to our standard—if we won't put it in our own home, then we definitely won't sell it to you! Often we will purchase a single item at a premium just for the inspection alone. Everyone knows how great things can look online, but we like to make sure they look the same or better in person so we can stand behind every piece of furniture we sell.

New Name, Same Owners

Many may remember us as Pinetree Furniture. It was a moniker that served our store well for over 20 years and was an appropriate reflection of our products at the time. Unfortunately in 2007, when the recession hit and the pine beetle had all but decimated BC’s pine forests, our long-time pine furniture manufacturer was forced to close their doors and we were left to seek out new options and diversify our product lines. Suddenly “Pinetree Furniture” was also selling oak, alder, maple, acacia, and rubberwood, and our name became misleading.In 2015, after hearing countless customers say, “we thought you only sold pine,” we decided to rename the store to Porter’s Wood Furniture, a more general title that salutes the family who has owned and operated the store for over 25 years. Since we strive to offer, “solid wood at solid value”, we will always sell furniture made with pine, but we also offer so much more and hope that our new name is a better reflection of this.
